Feota (Fey-O-ta)
Role: Goddess of the Seas, Piracy, and the Moons
Symbol: Two crossed silver glaives in front of two silver circles
Weapon: Glaive (Squall)
Feota is one of the most visually striking figures in the entire pantheon — and one of the most dangerous. From the waist up she resembles a canine humanoid, covered in silver-grey fur with a silver-white front. From the waist down she is mer-folk, her form tapering into powerful tail fins. She is nearly twelve feet from head to tail, and she rules the seas with a ferocity and exactness that leaves no room for misunderstanding.
She is temperamental in the way only someone with absolute power over something can afford to be — her moods shifting like the tides, her patience finite and her memory long. Sailors who once prayed to her for safe passage knew better than to take that protection for granted. Those who still brave the open water know her name whether they worship her or not — because Feota’s Gaze, the rare and dreaded night when both of Yaesal’s moons are simultaneously full, makes the sea almost impossibly dangerous. It occurs once every five hundred and eighty-one days. Every sailor counts.
She was among the gods who joined the rebellion during the God Rain, taking her place alongside the dark gods in the assault on Tannerian itself. Her glaive, Squall, was left behind in the chaos of that battle — and ended up playing a pivotal role in events she almost certainly did not intend.
Interesting Facts:
- Feota’s power is at its absolute peak during the full moons and at its weakest during the dark tide — the rare period when neither of Yaesal’s moons are visible. Sailors who know this plan their routes accordingly.
- Her glaive Squall has a complicated history. She dropped it during the God Rain, and what happened next changed everything.
