Zylara (zy-LAR-a)
Other Names: The Maiden of Souls
Role: Goddess of the Afterworld
Symbol: An arm holding scales
Weapon: Elven Long Sword
Zylara is the goddess who greets every soul at the end of their journey — and she takes that responsibility with absolute seriousness. She appears as a young elf maiden with a very pale complexion, raven black hair, and striking red eyes. She wears only white, which makes her dark hair and eyes stand out in stark contrast. Her movements are described as gliding rather than walking — graceful and purposeful, as if the floor beneath her is merely a suggestion.
She is steady and composed in all things, her expression typically passive and devoid of strong emotion — though those who observe her closely may catch rare glimpses of something warmer beneath the surface. She is not a goddess of death in the morbid sense. Her followers do not worship death itself, but rather the justice of what comes after — the belief that a life well lived carries its own reward, and that those rewards await on the other side of her scales.
She appears to the living only at the moment of their death, making her one of the few deities most mortals will encounter exactly once.
Interesting Facts:
- Zylara keeps careful accounts of what she is owed and what she owes — when a debt is repaid, she considers the matter closed immediately, without sentiment. Balance is not just her domain. It is her nature.
- No matter the size or significance of a soul, she treats the work of returning or guiding it with equal care. To her, there is no such thing as a soul too small to matter.
