Yogg (YAWG)

Other Names: The War Monger Role: God of War and Chaos Symbol: A dragon skull Weapon: Flaming sword — Dragon Breath

Yogg does not want to win. He wants the war to last as long as possible.

That distinction is everything. The War Monger is not a god of victory or conquest — he is a god of chaos, and conflict is simply the most reliable way to generate it. He appears in his preferred form as a truly ancient two-headed black and red dragon with glowing golden eyes, nearly seventy-five feet in length and twenty feet at the shoulder — a creature of such overwhelming scale that the question of which side he’s on becomes almost irrelevant. He can alter his size at will, but this is the form he loves most. His two heads represent the two sides of any battle or war, which tells you everything about his actual loyalties. He has none.

He is dangerous in the way only something utterly indifferent to outcome can be. He does not scheme the way Ethiss schemes. He does not hold grudges the way Serexie holds grudges. He simply shows up wherever the chaos is greatest and makes it worse. During the God Rain, he led the assault on Tannerian personally, crossing blades with Inaias himself — the flaming sword Dragon Breath clashing against the impenetrable shield of the Holy Shield in a battle that shook all of creation. He was not fighting to win. He was fighting because it was glorious.

Those few who still worship Yogg in the aftermath of the God Rain do not pray for victory. They pray to be in the thick of it.

Interesting Facts:

  • When the other rebellious gods agreed to let their spilled divine energy rain down on Thanria rather than reclaim it immediately, Yogg agreed too — not out of strategy, but because he thought watching the chaos it would cause sounded entertaining.
  • In all of creation, across all of existence, Yogg fears exactly three beings: Jonium, Athra, and Ethiss. That the goddess of lies and shadows made that list — above every warrior, every monster, every force of destruction in the known world — should tell you something about what Ethiss is truly capable of.
