Role: Dan’s preteen son; younger sibling

Personality: Scott is cheerful, enthusiastic, and gloriously oblivious to most of the emotional undercurrents swirling around him — which, more often than not, is exactly the tension-breaker the room needs. He leads with curiosity and enthusiasm rather than caution, and he warms up to new people quickly as long as they can meet him where he is, which is usually somewhere in the vicinity of video games. He’s not shallow — he just processes the world through a different, more immediate lens than his sister. He’s funny without quite trying to be, and his total lack of guile makes him unexpectedly easy to love. Underneath the gaming and the snacks and the running commentary is a kid who is quietly devoted to his dad and his sister.

Interesting Facts:

• Dan has a running rule in the house: if Scott encounters an unfamiliar word, place, or concept through gaming, he has to look it up before he can keep playing. Scott complains about it every time and follows through every time.
• Scott was the first member of the Phillips family to fully and unconditionally accept Henli — not through any grand gesture, but by simply asking her which route she took in Undertale.
