Narina of Clan Clagfist-Oshlio, Daughter of Oogbar and Cragnoth (nah-REE-nah of Clan CLAG-fist OSH-lio, Daughter of OOG-bar and CRAG-noth)

Race: Elf (at least on the outside)

Age: 126 years old. (appears to be in her mid to late twenties due to her elven heritage)

Role: Warrior, Wanderer,

Narina is one of the most striking figures you’re likely to encounter — and one of the most dangerous. Her elvish features and pointed ears, adorned with multiple rings and a small bat-shaped jewel dangling from her left lobe, stand in sharp contrast to everything else about her. A shock of snow-white hair is styled into a mohawk running down the center of her head, braided at the back and extending several inches past her shoulders. Intricate tattoos cover her face, head, and neck, disappearing beneath the edges of her dark brown and green leather and fur clothing, which bears markings distinctly orcish in style. Around her neck hangs a leather strand with two large teeth. She moves in complete silence despite carrying a spear on her back, a boot knife, and her signature weapons: two spiked chains tipped with spearheads, as deadly as they are distinctive.

Her personality is just as contradictory as her appearance. She speaks with an almost guttural bluntness more common among orc warriors than elves, and she carries herself with the intensity of someone who has already seen far too much of the world’s cruelty — and survived it. She is fiercely loyal to those who earn her trust, brutally honest with everyone else, and deeply suspicious of anyone she hasn’t tested for herself. She has a personal code, and she holds to it without apology.

She’s blunt. She carries the speech patterns and warrior traditions of the orcish clan that shaped her far more than anything from her elvish heritage. She doesn’t do cities. She doesn’t do small talk. But cross someone she considers hers, and you’ll understand very quickly why she has that necklace of teeth around her neck.

Uglith (OOG-lith) has been Narina’s closest friend and companion for over a century. He is smarter than a normal bat, but not overly so. Narina says that she doesn’t know how Uglith has lived as long as he has, but perhaps she suspects on a subconscious level. Ugligh is Orcish for “twilight” which is when she first saw him.

Interesting facts:

  • She introduces herself in the orcish tradition — by clan and by the names of the ones who made her — which tells you everything about where her real loyalties and identity lie.
  • Understanding her Orcish tribal name can be confusing to those not familiar with the customs of the Orcs of Thanria. Narina is her name, and the only part of her name that is still Elvish. Next is her clan name — Clagfist. This is her Orcish clan/sur name — the name of her adopted parents. Oshlio refers to the country where her clan is from. The final part of the name are her adopted Orc’s parents’ name. Father, Oogbar and mother, Cragnoth.
