Malon (MAL-in)
Role: God of Thieves
Symbol: A domino mask with opposite color schemes on each side
Weapon: Dagger
Malon is exactly what you would expect from the god of thieves — opportunistic, self-serving, and always watching for an angle. He appears as a dwarf, compact and quick, with the kind of easy confidence that comes from a lifetime of taking things that don’t belong to him and never quite getting caught. His bandolier of daggers is not merely a weapon rack — it is a statement. He has one for every occasion, and he keeps meticulous track of all of them.
He was among the rebellious gods during the God Rain, joining Ethiss and the others in the assault on Tannerian. His role was characteristically underhanded — targeting individuals rather than engaging in open battle, leaving his mark in wounds and stolen advantages rather than grand confrontations. He caught Simmonette in the hip with one of his daggers during the chaos, a moment that set in motion a chain of events far larger than he intended.
What followed cost him. Serexie, blinded by grief and rage, came for him. He pinned her down — greedy enough even in that moment to try to claim her amethyst eyes as payment for a stolen dagger. He kept his eye. She did not forget. Later, in a moment of stunning audacity disguised as courtesy, she returned his dagger. He reached for it. He lost his left eye on the spot. Malon has worn that absence ever since — a permanent reminder that the god of thieves is not always the smartest person in the room.
Interesting Facts:
- He never did get his second dagger back. Serexie kept it.
- His symbol — a domino mask with opposing color schemes on each side — is appropriate for a god whose entire domain is built on being one thing while appearing to be another.
