Glyruss Au’Bronelle (GLY-russ AW-bron-EL)

Race: Elf Role: Proprietor, Collector, Patron of Tevec

Glyruss Au’Bronelle is the kind of person who makes an impression before he has said a single word. Nearly albino in complexion, with pale skin and white hair that set him apart in any room, he moves through the world with the unhurried ease of someone who has never once questioned whether he belongs somewhere. His clothing is impeccably tailored — formal when the occasion calls for it, effortlessly casual when it doesn’t — and he shifts between the two with the same fluid confidence. He has lived in Tevec for nearly three hundred years, long enough to have known the city when it was still called Muskrat Springs and consisted of a tavern, a stable, and a waystation. He watched it grow into something worthy of a better name, and he considers it his home in a way that goes well beyond mere residence.

He is charming in the specific way that well-traveled, well-read people with impeccable taste often are — naturally, without effort, and with just enough self-awareness to be disarming rather than insufferable. He knows everyone in Tevec, or knows someone who does. He tells stories well. He laughs easily and often. His knowledge of art, antiquities, rare artifacts, and history is seemingly boundless, and he shares it generously with anyone who walks through the doors of his shop, The Griffon’s Nest — a collection so fine it reads more like a museum than a store. He also owns The Griffon’s Aerie, one of Tevec’s finest dining establishments, because if the food and entertainment aren’t going to be top-of-the-line, what’s the point?

He is, by his own cheerful admission, very involved in the community. Tevec gave him a home. He gives back in return. It is a simple philosophy, held without apparent irony.

Narina didn’t trust him for a second. Sabrael found herself genuinely drawn to him. Both reactions, in their own way, are entirely understandable.

Interesting Facts:

  • He once changed out of his formal shop attire before a dinner with two women he had just met — specifically so they wouldn’t feel underdressed or out of place beside him. He mentioned, without drama, that he knew all too well what it felt like to be stared at for looking different.
  • The Griffon’s Nest once held five highblooms encased in protective crystal. Four were stolen months before Sabrael and Narina arrived. Glyruss mentioned it casually, as though it were merely an inconvenience.
