Rue
(ROO)

Race: Human
Role: Thief, Operative

Rue is small, quick, and considerably more dangerous than she looks — which is, one suspects, exactly how she prefers it. She operates in the spaces between things: the shadows at the edge of a room, the gap in a plan that no one else noticed, the moment when everyone is looking somewhere else. She is not a fighter by nature, though she is far from helpless. She is a survivor, and she has the instincts to prove it.

She is sharp — genuinely, uncomfortably sharp — with the kind of quick situational awareness that comes from spending years in environments where missing something gets you killed. She reads a room fast, identifies the exits faster, and makes decisions under pressure with a cool-headedness that belies the fear she is almost certainly feeling underneath. She does not panic easily. When she does, she hates herself for it.

Her work is driven more by pragmatism than ideology. Rue takes jobs. She does what she is paid to do. She is professional enough to see when a situation is going wrong and honest enough with herself to acknowledge it, even when that honesty is deeply inconvenient. She did not choose the life she has because it was glamorous. She chose it because it was the one available to her, and she is very good at it.

She carries daggers. She knows how to use them. She has no reservation about using them.

Interesting Facts:

  • She has a particular talent for going completely unnoticed in a crowd — not through magic or any Rain-Touched ability, but through the practiced, deliberate art of simply not drawing attention to herself. It is a skill she has spent years refining.
  • When things go badly wrong, Rue’s first instinct is not to run — it is to find the nearest shadow and think. She has talked herself out of more impossible situations than she has fought her way out of, and she considers that a point of professional pride.
