Dev (full name redacted – Called Ghost by the crew of the Copper Horizon)

Race: Human
Role: Crew Member, Copper Horizon

Ghost is the kind of person who makes friends without particularly trying to — warm, genuinely funny, and possessed of a smile that tends to put people immediately at ease. He is lean and athletic with dark skin, warm brown eyes, and long braided hair that he wears loose. He carries himself with the easy, unpretentious manner of someone who has deliberately chosen to be unremarkable, which is its own kind of art form.

On the Copper Horizon, he is simply Ghost — a capable, well-liked crew member who pulls his weight without complaint and never gives anyone reason to look too closely at where he came from. That is entirely intentional. Ghost comes from a family of considerable wealth and influence, and he walked away from all of it — not out of resentment, but out of a genuine desire to earn his place in the world on his own merits, to be judged for who he is rather than what his name is worth. The captain knows his real name. That has always been enough.

He is braver than he gives himself credit for, more capable than he allows himself to believe, and quietly devoted to the people he considers his own. He defers naturally to more experienced fighters, volunteers quickly for dangerous tasks, and tends to downplay his contributions immediately after making them. He is, in short, exactly the kind of person you want beside you — and the last person who would ever say so.

Interesting Facts:

  • He goes by Ghost on the ship and Dev among family and close friends. There is exactly one person outside his family he allows to call him Dev. He would never admit how much that matters to him.
  • His grandfather is the only person in the world who calls him by his full given name.
