Pa’Treex is impossible to miss and even harder to forget. Tall and lean with golden-brown fur spotted with black patches, she is a Bastetti — a feline humanoid race as distinctive in personality as they are in appearance. Her tail is practically a character in its own right, swishing and arching with an expressiveness that gives her away long before her words do.

She is relentlessly social, infectiously enthusiastic, and almost constitutionally incapable of sitting still for long. Where Sabrael gravitates toward solitude, Pa’Treex gravitates toward people — any people, immediately and without reservation. She paces when she is nervous, leaps up when she is excited, and generally moves through the world at a speed that leaves quieter souls slightly exhausted just watching her.

Her calling within the service of Inaias is to help families — a path that suits her perfectly. Family is everything to the Bastetti, a race whose typical lifespan of only thirty to forty years means they approach life with a particular urgency. Pa’Treex is a fully mature adult at nine years old, and if she sometimes seems like someone determined to experience everything as quickly as possible, that’s because she is. She knows exactly how much time she has.
