Coinric (COIN-ric)

Other Names: The Master of Coins

Role: God of Gems, Precious Metals, Trade, and Commerce

Symbol: Gold, Silver, and Copper Coins

Weapon: A bag of coins fastened to a pole

Don’t let the unglamorous weapon fool you — Coinric has turned the mundane into an art form. Nearly bald save for a few thin wisps of hair and a pair of thick sideburns that run nearly to his chin, he is not the imposing figure one might expect from a deity. He is, by his own apparent preference, fat and comfortable. Counting money interests him considerably more than the trappings of divine grandeur.

But Coinric is shrewder than he appears. Because his domain spans trade and commerce, he has become something of an unlikely master strategist — his gift for planning business transactions translating directly into a sharp mind for military tactics and long-term planning. He is not greedy in the way one might expect. He has no problem blessing his worshippers with genuine wealth, provided he believes they have earned it. He is, at his core, a god of fair exchange.

His temples were once bustling centers of commerce, their walls adorned with friezes of merchants and traders, their courtyards hosting pilgrims and businesspeople alike. Even in ruin, the grandeur of what they once were is impossible to miss.

Interesting Facts:

  • He is not proficient with any conventional weapon — so he uses what he has. A bag of coins on a pole swung by a god is still a bag of coins on a pole swung by a god.
  • His followers don’t worship wealth for its own sake — they worship the principle of fair and honest exchange. There’s a meaningful difference, and Coinric knows it.
