Simmonette (sim-oh-NET)

Other Name(s): None

Role: Goddess of Ecstasy, Peace, and Hope. Wife of Inaias.

Status: Deceased

Symbol: A Black Lily roughly in the shape of an “S.”

Weapon: A Rapier (One of a set of two)

The youngest of the gods, Simmonette was the twin sister of Serexie and the wife of Inaias. She was the goddess of ecstasy, peace, and hope — and by all accounts, she embodied every one of those things. When she spoke, it is said her voice carried the quality of music, and those near her would sometimes hear melodies where there were none. She was a natural peacemaker, gentle and luminous, but make no mistake — she was not a pacifist. Her weapon was a rapier, one of a twin set, and she knew how to use it.

Her symbol is a black lily shaped in the rough curve of an S — a striking contrast, dark flower for a goddess of light, though those who knew her said it suited her perfectly.

When Simonete speaks, it sounds almost as if she is singing, and many people actually hear music where there is none. She is a natural peacemaker, but not a pacifist.

She was killed during the God Rain, not in open battle, but in an act of pure selfless courage. Seeing her husband in mortal danger with no time to warn him, she made an impossible choice in an instant — and paid for it with her life. The youngest of the gods was gone before her body reached the floor.

Inaias begged the Two-Above-All to bring her back. They could not.

Interesting Facts:

  • Though she no longer walks among the living, Simmonette has not been forgotten. In the garden of the Temple of Inaias in Sheadum, a small memorial tends quietly in her honor — planted and cared for by someone who felt she deserved to be remembered.
  • Her twin rapiers still rests on a golden stand in Tannerian, on a satin pillow, carefully tended by Inaias. It has not been touched in over two hundred years. The other one met a darker fate.
