High Elder Martin
Race: Human
Role: High Elder, Cleric of Edhos, the god of healing.
High Elder Martin is a man who defies expectations the moment you lay eyes on him. Standing at least six and a half feet tall, with deep brown skin stretched over an enormous frame, broad shoulders, and hands that look like they belong on a battlefield, he is not what most people picture when they think of a healer and man of faith. His head is shaved clean — a choice, not circumstance — save for a chin beard cut to a sharp point. He is, in every physical sense, a mountain of a man.
And yet the first thing you notice when he speaks is how calm and soft his voice is. Martin carries his faith the way he carries everything else — with quiet, immovable certainty. He is patient without being passive, warm without being naive, and practical in a way that sets him apart from more rigid members of his order. When a desperate father snapped at one of his young acolytes and invoked a dark goddess’s name in frustration, Martin’s response was not rebuke but understanding. He sees the heart of a situation, not just its surface.
As a High Elder of Edhos, god of healing, Martin is a gifted healer and a man of deep spiritual discernment — one who pays close attention when something doesn’t feel right, even when he can’t yet explain why. The God Rain shook the faith of many across Thanria, and Martin was no exception. Though his connection to Edhos held, the experience left him more watchful, more attuned to the presence of darkness operating where it shouldn’t be.
Interesting Facts:
- His god, Edhos, teaches that all lives are sacred regardless of race or station. Martin lives that out without fanfare — it simply shows in how he treats people.
- He travels prepared for his own comfort, bringing his own oversized bed along with him. When you’re that large, you learn to plan ahead.
